While I lived in New Mexico I had the opportunity to see the original Red Dawn in the place where it was filmed. It was part of the Alamo Drafthouse’s Rolling Roadshow Tour that I highly recommend going to if you ever get the chance. One of the funnest aspects of catching this film at the drive in theater on the big screen (aside from the human sized snot bubble at the tip of Patrick Swayze’s nose) is that there is a scene in Red Dawn that was filmed at the drive in theater where we were watching the film. It almost felt like looking at yourself in a mirror when you’re surrounded by mirrors. It was surreal.
And now there’s a remake on the way, which is what it is. I like this cast, and there seems to be a new, larger scale take on the tale, so it has potential. Take a look!
